The term “broetry” was coined by Bloomberg writer Lorcan Roche Kelly1 and is evident for anyone who’s spent any time on social media platforms.

The pithy poetic nature of this advice-cum-humblebrag is meant to convey a sort of polished perceptiveness — somewhere between and epigram and an insight.

True wisdom is gained through reading, dialogue, reflection, and deep thinking, and is rarely conveyed in fortune cookie-like bits. We need to put in the work.
