Plato takes me back to philosophy of law and reminds us how important it is to deal with our confirmation biases and our own susceptibility to distorted reasoning. I love the idea that bias, beliefs and decisions are a matter of ethics not just psychology- seeing ethics for its real importance toward morality, consistency, and justice. Thanks.
I also loved the Professor Paul Argeti writing that references to Trump's negotiation style as a "throw the bomb and negotiate from the debris" playbook. Wow. While Trump regularly throws the baby out with the bath water, this description is most accurate and astute. Trump will be studied for this different yet similar old soviet style of pounding the table, distraction and diversion.
Trump's bullying and extreme disrespect and mean spirit in his negotiations are seen as effective. Very sad and completely devoid of ethics as well as morality and principled behavior. And as covered in the Clifford Legal Symposium at DePaul in Chicago today- Trump regularly claims he is deprived of procedural due process (his big lie on election, for example) even as depriving procedural due process to his enemies is what he is all about (deportation without a hearing for example). What times we grow in are always upon us.
