A Word about the Timeless Leadership Podcast
For those who care about how the sausage is made
Hey, thanks for humoring me on a non-essay day.
This is where I usually drop a new episode of Timeless Leadership every Thursday. Obviously, we were off last week because of the Thanksgiving break, but our schedule got screwed up because…
Well, that’s an interesting story. Let me pull back the curtain for you.
Ready?
Since we launched the show earlier this year, it’s been a live-to-tape effort. That is, I’ve hosted a live show mostly on Fireside Chat where I take audience questions, then edited it down as a podcast (without the audience element). I think there have only been a couple of episodes where we taped privately.
These live sessions have typically happened on Wednesdays or Thursdays, with an immediate turnaround for a Thursday posting to the podcast platforms. And it was exhausting.
That’s the first thing you need to know.
The other thing is the title and subject matter. Each episode features one guest who aligns with one topic of leadership. An author, entrepreneur, or executive who represents a particular virtue of leadership. Kindness, Wisdom, Humility, Trust, Collaboration. You get the idea.
At times, that single world titling has been awkward, as I’ve struggled to pick a word to fit the word to the individual or their book title.
And frankly, not only is it a disservice to them (such as with Harry Cohen’s Optimism episode, because heliotropic leadership is about so much more than optimism), but it’s extremely limiting for the potential of this show.
Changes Ahead
So, there will be two major changes to the show moving forward:
Each episode’s title will be more descriptive and not tied to a single word. Our hope is that this will help with discovery as well as with the sense of pride that each interviewee takes in sharing their episode.
When we record live episodes, we’ll be doing them on Twitter Spaces. Audience participation is still possible, and the days and times may vary based on our guests’ availability. In some cases, they may not have access to Twitter; we’ll assess the best way to host an episode with them in such a circumstance.
But the focus remains the same: we’ll explore key principles — the habits, character traits, and virtues that form the backbone of great leadership.

Oh, and our next episode is set for Monday, December 6 at 1:00 pm ET / 10:00 am PT. We’ll be talking about Growth with Jon Ferrara, co-founder Goldmine Software and CEO of Nimble:
I sure hope you’ll join me.
Thanks, and I’ll see you on the internet.
